About the Therapist
Elizabeth Goodwin is a Professional Clinical Counselor. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from John Carroll University. Elizabeth works with individual adults, couples and families. She has experience in a wide range of mental health and life stage issues. This includes parenting children through adult years; dating and newly-committed relationships through long-term; and existential issues of the aging population.
Her clinical experience includes treating anxiety (and anxiety-related disorders such as OCD, phobias, panic), depression, trauma and PTSD. Elizabeth uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy when appropriate in treating trauma, anxiety disorders, and healing unwanted patterns. Elizabeth facilitates parenting classes using the Love and Logic® curriculum and draws from The Total Transformation® Program.
“I help clients with their current life issues in the context of their unique history and values. I support clients in developing new ways of being or interacting in relationships. I draw from my life experience combined with an in-depth understanding of the human condition. What keeps people stuck? What makes us repeat the same painful patterns?
There is no single approach to the process of counseling. My strength as a therapist is my adaptive, individualized approach, accepting you right where you are, and working with the way you are. A compassionate relationship is the foundation of my practice. By providing an open and collaborative space, you can explore your thought patterns, your emotional reactions and your behaviors. In a trusting client-therapist relationship, you are better able to discover and implement the changes you seek for yourself. My goal for you is that you achieve results in a brief period of time. Your willingness is the key. I am committed to your process.”
“Always when judging
Who people are,
Remember to footnote the words, “So far.””
